The Astoria company was founded in 1921 by a former Montblanc company director Georg Ilger and his colleagues Herman Dietzel, Siegmund Popper and Wilhelm Frings. Many will discover the close resemblance of Montblanc and Astoria in its iconic black and white.
Montblanc acquired Astoria Pen Company around 1930s as it encountered financial problems and continued to manage it till 1936. The Astoria company was brought back to life again in 2009 and subsequently in 2010 , the trademark rights.
