Graf Von Faber Castell Pen Of The Year 2022 Aztec Fountain Pen
The Graf von Faber-Castell Pen of The Year 2022 Aztec Fountain Pen honours the glorious Aztec Culture of Mexico and its impact on the history of man kind.
Inspired by the culture, aesthetics and holy rites of the Aztecs. The Aztec Empire was an union of three city-states in modern-day Mexico and spanned from 1428-1521. They created impressive works of art and had their own political system which continues to influence our modern day practice.
The metal body has an anthracite-grey diamond-like carbon coating. The barrel of Pen of The Year 2022 Aztec Fountain Pen is engraved with a skull pattern inspired by the walls made of rows of skulls in the Templo Mayor, where the Aztecs performed some of their most holy rituals and ceremonial activities.
The grip section is made from dark, smooth obsidian which represents health, power and fertility. The Aztecs believed obsidian could protect them against evil spirits and often made arrowheads and swords from this volcanic rock.
A turquoise stone engraved with the image of an eagle on the cap turban and the end cap is grooved to resemble the cross section of the shape of lake cactus. A symbolic Owl with feathers radiating from its head to illustrate power and authority is inserted into the tail end.
The nib is a magnum size 18kt gold nib and is coated with black ruthenium. The Pen of The Year 2022 Aztec Fountain Pen is filled using the in-built plunger mechanism with bottled ink.
