Pilot Vintage Japanese Makie Cosmetics Box
An excellent condition vintage Pilot Japanese makie cosmetics box made by renown Kokokai artist Hiroshi Sasada 笹田博 who had joined Kokokai 国光会 (國光會) in 1929. Depicting chidoris flying in formation over glittering streams of water which was artistically illustrated with a curved line which divides the box in an elegant manner.
Red Japanese urushi and black urushi provides a contrasting visual effects to the cosmetics make up box coverwhich opens up to reveal a secret compartment that comes with an original cosmetics powder sponge. It is not recommended to use the powder sponge anymore for hygiene reasons but it comes originally with it. Gold dust of jim maki-e decorated the red urushi surface giving it the elegance for the user.
